HGTV And Me

Last night I got my fill of HGTV while Jer dozed off next to me. We had a long Monday and I just wanted to relax with him. While watching International House Hunters, I saw the most beautiful dining room table. I must have it. Maybe you can help.

The thing I loved about it is it's square shape. When you have a large family like ours you'd like to have room for everyone in a cozy, but comfy dinner setting. This table had room for eight; two on every side. It was dark colored with light colored chairs. I'm pretty sure we may want to do that in reverse... light table, dark chairs. We have kids ya know?

I looked around IKEA, but no such luck. Let me know if you find something!

[UPDATE] I found something like what I want, only I don't want to purchase one that is "counter height". Actually I think they are very beautiful, but I'm pretty sure they are troublesome when entertaining. (I envision my parents trying to hoist themselves up onto the high chairs and small children taking a nose-dive when they don't realize how high they are).

Grrr... Technology

I'm not sure why I always have such trouble with RSS feed stuff. I've tried to redirect you here, but you may have to do it manually. *gasp*

Why She Doesn't Like You

The other morning at the gym I had an interesting run in with what I assume to be a local college student. It really wasn't a big deal, but it really made me stop and think about how people act these days.

Basically, this little "incident" happened around 5am as I was just walking into the gym. College Boy pushed his way past me, opened the door and walked in letting it slam in my face. I thought that maybe he didn't realize what he did and pulled open the door. Just as I walked in he barreled through the next door, which also nearly took my nose off.

I wasn't upset because this guy didn't hold the door open for me, a woman. It was just plain rude to not hold doors open. We are, after all, Southwest Missouri. I would also like to point out that all the boys in our family hold the door open for others and often they even open my car door.

Okay, so maybe you don't have to open the door and politely wait while the other person walks through. But you can at least hold the door until the other person can grab it. Heck, I would have even jogged a few steps to grab the door if he'd let me. Actually, I wasn't far enough away to have to run... he just didn't care that I was right there.
